The Mission of Uptown Partnership is to create a vibrant, attractive, adaptive,
and charming Uptown District that is welcoming to visitors, residents, and investors, by:
Main Street Fundamentals
Increasing the stock of high-quality housing options
Championing the development of diverse businesses, entertainment, and dining options
Supporting the rehabilitation of existing buildings and appropriate infill
Building a vibrant community identity through frequent communications, support of Uptown marketing, events, and promotions.
The Main Street Approach is centered around Transformation Strategies. A Transformation Strategy articulates a focused, deliberate path to revitalizing or strengthening a downtown or commercial district’s economy.
A program’s work on Transformation Strategies should be organized around the Four Points: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, and Organization.
A revitalization program’s work – and its Transformation Strategies – need to be informed by a solid understanding of local and regional market data, and sustained and inclusive community engagement.
While we have identified “Uptown Life” and “Handmade, Craftmade, and Artisan” as our initial Transformation Strategies, we are still building our workplan to make a thriving UPtown a reality.
We welcome your ideas and would love to have you join our team and lead a project.
Uptown Partnership’s Vision for our Uptown District is a vibrant destination filled with high-quality, eclectic and charming residences, businesses, and public spaces. Uptown Martinsville will be known as the cultural and entrepreneurial hub for the greater Martinsville/Henry County region.
